Religious Ceremonies
If you would like to have a religious ceremony, you should speak to the vicar of your chosen church, in the first instance. The Officiant should complete the relevant section of each marriage notice form to confirm that (s)he is willing to perform the ceremony.
The marriage schedule needs to be personally collected from the Registrar no more than seven days prior to the date of marriage during office hours.
If you wish to marry by religious ceremony (other than in the Church of England or Church in Wales), you should first arrange to see the person in charge of marriages at the building. It will also be necessary for both of you to give formal notice of your marriage to the superintendent registrar of the district(s) where you live. A registrar might also need to be booked from the register office in the district where the marriage is to take place in order to register the marriage.
By Law, in Scotland, both parties to a proposed civil or religious marriage (which includes other belief systems) are required to submit marriage notice forms to the registrar of the district in which the marriage is to take place informing him of their intention to marry.
Forms for giving notice in Scotland can be obtained from any registrar of births etc. in Scotland or
